How To Recover From Stuffing Your Face
Hola,
I just got back from Mexico a few days ago, and I’m still greeting with the “hola.” I’m keeping it for as long as possible. π
I had a fantastic time on my business/pleasure trip. I also had a good time with that all-inclusive deal.
I think I ate guacamole and chips for all my meals, drank a few (alright, many) rainbow pina colada drinks at the pool bar, and ate big dinners every night (Why not! It’s all-inclusive!).
By the 4th day, I started to feel like crap and look a bit pregnant. In fact, I think I resemble someone in their 2nd trimester. My belly is quite round from all the bloating.
No worries, though. It’s totally cool to have fun. Now that I’m home, I have a plan to lose that belly fat and clear my head. I want to feel lighter and normal again.
Want to know how?
Click on the video to discover my 3 simple ways to get back on track after vacation. You can use these anytime you feel you’ve gotten a little out of control.
After viewing the vid, check out a great recovery tea below.
Think of a time you over did it…was it on vacation, at a party, watching a True Blood marathon on TV? It’s all good…unless you are from another planet, we all at one time or another go a bit overboard.
In the comments below, tell me about a time you overindulged. How did you feel afterwards? What recovery tip will you try next time?
Oh, and make sure to “like” the post, too. That will make my heart very happy.
PS. Here’s that tea recipe I mentioned earlier:
Cure All Tea (adapted from The Kind Diet)
The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet
This tea restores minerals to the blood and is great for: hangovers, nausea, weakness, dizziness, and heartburn.
Ingredients: 1 kukicha green tea bag , 1/4 umeboshi plum (found in International section at Whole Foods), pit removed and finely chopped, 3 drops of shoyu (a type of sauce).
Steep the tea in 1 cup of boiling water. While the tea steeps, place the umeboshi plum into a tea cup with the shoyu. Pour the hot tea over the plum in the teacup and stir well. Drink up.

I love Mexico and the guacamole and margaritas there!
When I come back every year I go straight to nigella lawson’s Temple Food section of her cookbook “how to eat”
Yes, that guac was amazing! Since I have a thing about tequila (can’t even smell it!), I did the pina coladas. Great idea about Nigella’s book. I will check that out! I’m still recovering, but feeling better and better. xx
Hi Lisa. Glad to hear you “fall off the wagon” like the rest of us! Love these tips. You’re an inspiration! Love having you in my corner! Have a fabulous weekend!
I sure did! Thanks for watching the vid…seems like all my tips were liquids! BUT I’m starting to feel good. AND I just LOVE having you as my client. You are a ROCK STAR! xo
I am right there with ya sister! Love this video and seeing your beautiful face!
xoxo
Love you, sister! We are in this together!
You are the video goddess so this means a lot to me! I had the best time with you and can’t wait to see you again in Oct., love.
Great tips Lisa! But now all I can think about it chips and guacamole!! Sounds like the weekend was well worth the food baby π
I know! I’m getting withdrawal symptoms actually as I type this! It is my go to snack on Friday nights. Will power!:) Totally worth the food, love. Will fill you in. π
Green juice is a miracle transfusion for sure! It is always my go-to when I’m a bit too debaucherous:p Aside from one too many glasses of red wine, a big bowl of white pasta was normally the culprit for me – even whole wheat pasta was a problem! So I’m totally off the flour pastas and back to a non-pregnant lady tummy:)
Annika! I just love that word~ debaucherous! I actually ate a lot of pasta on the trip…since I’m a veggie, most dishes had meat in them, so pasta was my safe choice. So glad you unlocked that white pasta as reason for belly bloat. I can’t wait to have my tummy back, not a good sign when people ask me, “so when are you due?!” Thanks so very much for sharing, Annika. π
haha! They really asked you that? It couldn’t have been that big!
I was actually wondering how easy/difficult it was to get veg-friendly meals down there. I’m vegan so it’s something I always have to think about when I’m travelling. Will keep your pasta experience in mind when I look at Mexico again. Thank YOU for sharing!
YEs, a lady at the airport…she was pretty old so maybe her eyesight was bad? hee hee. I’m okay with it.:)
Great ideas! I lost 12 pounds to go to the beach vacation and gained 4 on it eating lots and drinking lots of wine, a few strawberry daquiers and one beer!
Ahh, I hope you had a wonderful vacay!!! I just love the pics you sent…and will talk more about it, too! AND yes, those daiquiris and wine can leave us bloated. But never fear, pumping up some of the good stuff will help us recover. My body is starting to feel lots better. xo
advil… advil… advil:)…. just kidding….. is guac not good for us or is it the chips? seems like real guac, just the real fresh ingredients should be fine? … in moderation, yes…. and never drink those drinks…. yuck… they are so bad for you … even their margaritas are poison…. ask for this (and even you would like this lisa…) …. 2 whole fresh queezed limes, 1 shot of triple sec (or better yet orange liquor by Patron)…. and 1 shot of patron silver….. that’s all, no sugar, no mix… its yummy….. feels great….. doesn’t leave a hangover (unless you have too many of them… 2 is my limit and only 1 if I have do do anything, anything at all!:))…. glad you had fun though Lisa, and so glad to get “permission” to vaca… blessings, a
Ha! I think the guac was pretty good, but overdoing with the chips got me all bloated. Thanks for your substitute drink for next time…and if it doesn’t leave a hangover, even better.:) Thanks, Andrea! I did have a blast and no regrets. Just my body telling me to get back on track because she loves it that way.:) Hope you are well! big love to you.
Great video, Lisa! I’m so happy to hear about your trip and thankful to hear your 3 steps to recovering from over-indulgence. I would have done the same thing with the chips, guac and yummy drinks! If I ever get a chance to do that I’m going to follow your advice and drink the water, green drinks and tea:)
Thank you so much, Tara! In fact, I was just thinking of you, lady. Can’t wait to catch up with you! AND I’m feeling much lighter now…and with my Vitamix, the smoothies are also good to try. Glad you like the tips…they are really working! Hugs to you!
Thanks for these tips, Lisa! I don’t have a juicer but I do have water and green tea. Perfect timing…it’s Monday morning after the funnest wedding ever on Saturday night. Looking forward to getting together with you soon.
Glad you like the tips, Mindy! Did you ever look into getting the Magic Bullet. Very cheap and portable. Ohhh, and a wedding! I just love weddings! Time to recover!:)
