Sneaky Diet Trap To Avoid #1

This isn’t about a type of diet. You know my take on those things.

BUT over time, I’ve noticed a few startling things that sneak into healthy routines because someone told you it was “healthy” or that you can cut calories if you just did x, y, and z.

Instead of maintaining your ideal weight, you  sometimes feel like you can’t seem to lose those last 5 pounds because there are certain sneaky and WRONG nutritional traps you’ve fallen into without your knowledge.

During this 5 part video series, I will dispel the top diet traps that can sneak into your life if  you’re not careful.

Click the vid to find out the #1 trap to avoid.

So do you agree with me?  Are you falling into this trap?

Since our bodies don’t know what to do with “fake” things like aspartame (that is so dangerous, I can’t even get into it), it’s better to drink water because our bodies need this liquid to function.

You can add a squeeze of lemon or lime, put cucumbers in your pitcher of water, or even herbal tea bags if you’re not used to the taste of water.

Below, share your favorite drink, and if it’s water, do you drink it straight up? OR do you have a way to jazz it up if not into plain ole water?

I have found that a splash of cranberry or apple juice ( just a splash ) makes a huge difference. It really works as a diet soda substitute. I also will use a splash of diet green tea when I have that in the house. It works well too.

Good deal, Joe. Make sure these juices are unsweetened and only have cranberries or apples in them without any added sugars. The green tea is GOLD. I have to try that one! Thanks, Joe !

Lisa! You are so right!! I was driking about 1-2 Diet Cokes a day. After reading about what artificial sweetener does to your body,I FINALLY gave them up. After 2-3 days I felt so much better! Those few days I had a very bad headache, but I am great now. I enjoy being soda free. I drink water instead. Thanks for the great video. I can’t wait for tip #2.

Sue! So so very happy you are off that diet coke train. Isn’t amazing how good you feel without that stuff? Plus when I saw you the other day, you were glowing. Thanks, Sue! AND #2 is going to be a good one. A surprise.;)

I’m guilty of coffee drinking. Soda is not such a big problem. Don’t drink too much of that at all. I do need to get more water in. I get it in during my work outs, but not nearly as much during the rest of my day. A sip here, a sip there. I love to add lemon to my water…thanks to you, Ms. Lisa!! I need to get back to that!! Thanks for the reminder!! Love!:)

Drinking at least 2 full glasses of water with lemon in the morning would be great! A good general tip is to take your body weight and divide by 2. That should be the approximate amount of ounces you should be drinking each day. Keep on, Amy! Big love to you!

No calories and no sugar…. Exactly the reasons why I thought I was helping myself by drinking diet soda…. Thanks for the insights, Lisa. As always, you are right on! I will start substituting H2O for soda today. Thanks!!

Ahh, Phil! Yes, those tricksters! Pump that water and you are good to go. 🙂

Thanks for tips. Look forward to other helpful tips. I never really had any problems in this area becasue I never got into drinking diet sodas(NEVER liked the taste). We don’t have soda in the house so that is another good thing. We only drink it if we go out to dinner. I am trying to teach my children to drink only water at meal time. I think that modeling to children is a good way to eatting and healthy that way the kids will do the same (we do not cater at meal times).
Lots of love to you and the family,

Great stuff, Vicki! We are like you guys, never having it around, ever. I used to drink Diet Coke all the time when I was a teacher. I had some wicked headaches since I was so dehydrated (looking back at it now). Keep on, sister! AND love to you and the fam, Vicki!!!!!

Since the cleanse, I’ve had 2 diet sodas. That’s 2 since November 1st! Remember our phone conversation when I told you how many I had a day? Like 5? I don’t even miss them. Well, not really. So I’m allowing myself one a week now.

You rock.

    Lisa Consiglio Ryan

Wow! I’m doing a virtual happy dance for you! Plus a fist-pump! That is amazing about those diet sodas. I remember how much you drank everyday and now, WOW!! Keep on! YOU ROCK!

It never occurred to me that diet sodas would spike our blood sugar levels or set off cravings! Very interesting! Gratefully, I gave them up a while ago for a different reason..the “C” word…Cellulite! All carbonated beverages…especially sodas are a top contributor to the dimpled demon called cellulite. Thanks for the reminder and new insight, Lisa!

Yes, that C-word can be a curse! I’m glad you told me the connection to sodas and cellulite. This will be another reason to drink water. Woot hoot! Thank you!
