Sneaky Diet Trap to Avoid #2
Welcome back to my 5 part video series! I’m revealing the top diet traps that can sneak into your life if you’re not careful.
As a health coach, I’ve noticed a few startling things that sneak into healthy routines because someone told you it was “healthy” or that you can cut calories if you just did x, y, and z.
Instead of maintaining your ideal weight, you sometimes feel like you can’t seem to lose those last 5 pounds because there are certain sneaky and WRONG nutritional traps you’ve fallen into without your knowledge.
If you missed the first trap to avoid, watch this video to get caught up.
Super. Your back! Now it’s time to find out if whole grain is really the way to go. Click the video to find out.
Please don’t fall into this trap! I care about you tons and that whole grain mess can get tricky. It’s best to stick to complex carbs. You can try this quick and easy quinoa recipe for starters.
Breakfast Quinoa
Ingredients:
1 cup cooked quinoa
½ cup water
1 apple, chopped
1/3 cup raisins or dried cranberries (that is what I used this morning)
Combine all ingredients in a pot. Bring to boil. Reduce to simmer until water is absorbed.
Serves 2.
Have you been on the whole grain train? Do you have an alternative to share?
Tell me in the comments. Oh, and don’t forget to “like” this post and share away. This is TOO important not to spread the word to your friends. Don’t let them fall into this trap.

Hi Lisa! Thanks for tip #2! I love this bread! It is very tasty and satisfying. It comes in many different “flavors”. I use it to make sandwiches for school lunches! My girls enjoy it as well.
Sue
Me too! I actually like the cinnamon raisin English muffins the best. Willie, one of my awesome clients, pointed it out to me, and now I’m hooked! AND very cool that the girls like it too. Makes life so much easier! Thanks, Sue!
Toasting a slice of Ezekiel RIGHT NOW! Yum-with natural peanut butter. Leah loves it too. Now if I can only get the boys to eat it.. I’m going to try the quinoa breakfast recipe. The whole grain that my whole family loves is bulgur (cracked wheat) cooked plain like rice or with a meat and tomato sauce. See you in next weeks tip 🙂
Anne! You one awesome lady! I love to put peanut butter on the cinnamon raisin muffins. Oh so good! Let me know if you make the quinoa. I know you will love it, Anne! I’m gonna try your bulgur with the tomato sauce. That sounds YUM! Thanks, Anne!
YES this is great info Lis! So sad how certain company’s take advantage of people like that!
But I have a feeling it’s going to CHANGE, because we (has health professionals) are NEVER GIVING UP!!
🙂 loveyou!
Thanks, Nic! Yep, that General Mills is somethin’. We will NEVER give up! Love you lots!
Awesome tip Lisa. Since having Max who is allergic to milk and eggs, we have been introduced to a different side of foods (as well as all your good advice too). I have to say Ezekial bread is yum! I will keep your tip for this week in mind 🙂
Nicole! Isn’t that bread great?! AND for little Max (well, not so little!), eating foods without dairy and eggs is so much easier these days. I’m sure you’ve done a lot of experimenting. Thanks, girl!
I love Ezekial Bread too and thanks to you, now LOVE quinoa. Great video, thanks!
Thanks, Missy! That quinoa is a super food! Big hugs to you, lady.
Thanks for keeping your lessons simple, Lisa. You make it easy to understand and remember. I’ve never heard about avoiding “enriched.” Thank you!! I always learn something from you. Thanks for teaching and sharing!
Hi Mindy! Yes, simple is what I’m striving for. I tend to talk a lot about all this, but I know that we can take action when it is nice and simple.:) Big hugs to you, Mindy!
Thanks Lisa- great video.
Getting back on track after thanksgiving and love your reminders about making good choices!
Big thanks, Em! Stay tuned for next week’s vid.:)
HI Lisa, Love this week’s post! I know I know better than to buy “whole grain” or “enriched,” but I TOTALLY use these healthy sounding words as an excuse to make a not so savvy choice. BUT, now that I’ve gotten the official word from you, I’m sure to do betta! By the way, I keep Ezekial Cinnamon Raisin in the freezer. LOVE it! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and kep up the good work!
Oh, my dear, you are simply the BEST! I’m so hooked on that Ezekial Cinnamon Raisin, too! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
Lisa, I did not know this and I’ve never had Ezekial bread! Going to have to try that pronto!! I think I’ve fallen into the whole grain trap many times, just when I thought I was being healthy! But I do love me some Quinoa. Great vid, you’re adorable! 🙂
The bread is delish, Liz! Just a better alternative and super yummy too. That whole grain business can be so tricky. After really researching it, I found that it is mostly bull-sh**. Thanks, girlie! Big love!
