Welcome back to my 5 part video series! I’m revealing the top diet traps that can sneak into your life if you’re not careful.
Now it’s time to find out if that agave you are adding to your tea is really the way to go.
So using natural sweeteners like stevia and agave nectar, even honey are much better than that processed sugar and fake Splenda. BUT even though these sweeteners are less refined than white sugar, it is still recommended that they be used in moderation. Take agave for example.
Agave is high in fructose, higher than that of high-fructose corn syrup, and some research suggests that fructose does not shut off appetite hormones, and may decrease glucose tolerance, so you may end up overeating.
I actually advocate using natural sweeteners in place of artificial and processed sugar BUT with a big caution because if you are using these more than twice a day, you’re setting yourself up for overeating as well as raising your blood sugar.
Try using these sweeteners in your baking (such as I used maple syrup in place of cane sugar for the apple crisp).
Also, when you want to grab that honey for your oatmeal, use a sprinkle of cinnamon instead. Spices can do wonders.
Do you use natural sweeteners? Which ones do you use and when? In yogurt, tea, coffee?
Tell me in the comments.
